Don’t Teach Pigs to Sing…

“Don’t teach pigs to sing; it wastes your time and annoys hell out of the pig”!

If you take this on board you will save yourself a lot of frustration. People in general don’t want to be ‘converted’ so don’t bash your head against a brick wall.

Take the property market. There are a lot of  ‘spruikers’ (usually with a vested interest) who would have you believe  that real estate is a great  investment (as indeed it can be if you do it right: see Robert Kiyosaki’s books on Cash Flow) come what may. It is blatantly obvious that property prices can’t always increase but you can’t argue with these people so you might as well give in.

I was  just reading in Money Morning (an Australian ‘market news’ website) one chap’s response to these spruikers. He said “You’re right! Go ahead and buy before prices go up again!”

He has long since given up on teaching pigs to sing! Oink oink!

  1. Haha, you’re so right on this. With some people you just know not to bother contradicting them as they’re too set in their ways to listen.

Similarly there are people who ask for advice or an opinion when they really have no intention of listening to it but just want a pat on the head and to be told that their idea is great.

It takes a while to work out who the people are who are blinkered and interested only in their own opinions but once you’re on to them you can save yourself a bit of time by letting them get on with it.

I suppose many of them will find out the hard way in the end and probably blame it on someone else anyway!

I guess that everyone is on their own path in life. It doesn’t make them any the less frustrating tho, does it? :-) Thanks a lot for your comment. Always appreciated.
